6. Agreement & Aadhaar E-Sign

Review your Merchant Agreement and execute it legally using government-backed Aadhaar e-signature.

Estimated time: 10–15 minutes (plus signatory response time)

Once JPSL's Underwriting team fully approves your application, the system generates your Merchant Agreement — a legally binding contract governing your relationship with JPSL, including fee schedules, settlement cycles, and operational terms.

Step 6.1 — View the Merchant Agreement

  1. Navigate to the Agreement tab on your Application Status Dashboard.
  2. Click View Agreement to open the secure, embedded PDF viewer.
  3. Read the entire document before proceeding. Pay attention to:
SectionWhat to Verify
Legal Entity NameMust be spelled exactly as on your PAN / COI
Registered AddressMust match your official registration documents
Settlement CycleT+1, T+2, etc. — confirm this matches your expectation
MDR RatesThe Merchant Discount Rate per payment mode — these are the fees deducted from each transaction. Verify they match your offline discussions.
Refund & Chargeback TermsTimelines and liability clauses
Acceptable Use PolicyProhibited business categories and usage restrictions

Step 6.2 — Raise a Query or Confirm Intent to Sign

After reviewing the document, you must formally declare your intent.

If You Have Concerns or Errors

Do not proceed to sign if:

  • There is a factual error (name mismatch, wrong address)
  • The MDR rates do not match your offline discussions with your RM
  • Any clause is unclear and requires explanation

Instead:

  1. Click "Raise Queries".
  2. Contact your assigned Relationship Manager (RM) immediately with the specific concern.
  3. JPSL will revise the backend settings and upload a corrected agreement.
  4. You will be notified to return and review the revised document.

⚠️ Negotiate Before You Sign — This Is Your Last Opportunity MDR rates and commercial terms can only be changed before you click "Intent to E-Sign". Once the signing process is initiated, the agreement is locked. Requesting changes after signing requires a full agreement regeneration, which adds significant time to your go-live.

If the Agreement Is Accurate

Click "Intent to E-Sign". This action:

  • Locks the agreement document
  • Sends a unique E-Sign link to the registered email of every authorised signatory defined in Stage 4a
  • Initiates the Aadhaar E-Sign workflow

Step 6.3 — Aadhaar E-Sign Workflow (Per Signatory)

JPSL uses government-backed Aadhaar e-signing, which is legally binding under the Information Technology Act, 2000. The signing process occurs on the official NSDL or CDAC government portal — not on the JPSL portal.

Each signatory completes the following steps independently:

StepAction
1Open the E-Sign Link received in their email
2They are redirected to the official government E-Sign portal
3Enter their 12-digit Aadhaar Number or Virtual ID
4Consent to the digital signature process
5Receive an OTP from UIDAI on their Aadhaar-linked mobile number
6Enter the OTP — this legally applies their digital signature

🔴 Critical: Aadhaar OTP Goes to the Aadhaar-Linked Phone The OTP is sent by UIDAI (the Aadhaar authority) to the mobile number natively linked to the signatory's Aadhaar card — NOT to the mobile number registered on the JPSL portal.

If the signatory's Aadhaar-linked number is lost, changed, or outdated, they must first update it at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra before the e-sign can be completed.

Multi-Signatory Requirement

⚠️ All Required Signatories Must Sign Before Onboarding Progresses If your Board Resolution requires two or more signatories to jointly execute contracts, the application remains in "Pending E-Sign" status until every required signatory has individually completed the Aadhaar OTP process.

Use the Activity Log to monitor who has signed and who is still pending. Follow up directly with any pending signatories — the process cannot advance until all have completed their e-sign.

E-Sign Link Troubleshooting

IssueResolution
E-Sign link email not receivedCheck spam/junk/promotions folder. Verify the signatory's email in Stage 4a for typos. Check if corporate firewall is blocking automated emails.
Aadhaar OTP not receivedThe OTP goes to the Aadhaar-linked phone, not the JPSL-registered number. If that number is outdated, visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update it.
E-Sign link has expiredContact JPSL Support to request a new link.
Signatory's Aadhaar number is not linked to any mobileThe signatory must link a mobile number at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra before proceeding.

What Happens Next

Once all required signatories have completed their Aadhaar e-sign, proceed to Stage 7: MID Activation & Going Live.
