Pre-Requisites & What You Need

Documents, information, and preparation required before starting your JPSL onboarding.

Gathering everything on this page before you open the sign-up form will allow you to complete onboarding in a single sitting. An interrupted or incomplete application is the most common cause of avoidable delays.

1. Core Business Information

InformationDetails
Mobile NumberAn active Indian mobile number. Receives OTPs for all logins and for Aadhaar e-signing. Must be accessible throughout the process.
Email AddressAn official, monitored business email. This becomes your master admin login for the live Merchant Dashboard. Do not use a personal or shared inbox.
Business Type / ConstitutionYour exact legal entity type — Sole Proprietor, Partnership, LLP, Private Limited, Trust, Society, etc. This determines your KYC document requirements. See the Document Checklist.
Business Legal NameExactly as it appears on your PAN card or Certificate of Incorporation — letter-for-letter, including spaces and punctuation. Do not abbreviate.
Date of IncorporationThe official registration date from your COI, Partnership Deed, or Trust Deed.
PAN Number (Entity)The PAN issued to the business entity. For Sole Proprietors, the individual's PAN is acceptable.

⚠️ Important: Business Type Selection The Business Type you select in Stage 1 determines which documents the system asks for. Selecting the wrong type requires restarting the application. If you are unsure of your entity classification, consult your company's registration documents or your accountant before starting.

2. Banking Details

Your settlement account must satisfy the following conditions. Mismatches are the leading cause of Penny Drop failure and payout delays.

DetailRequirement
Account NumberActive current or savings account in the name of the business.
IFSC CodeThe specific branch IFSC — verify on your cheque leaf or passbook.
Account NameMust exactly match the Business Legal Name on PAN. Abbreviations are not accepted.
Account TypePrivate Limited companies, LLPs, and other registered entities cannot use a personal savings account. A current account in the company's name is required.

⚠️ Critical: Exact Name Matching Even a minor variation — "Acme Retail Pvt Ltd" vs "Acme Retail Private Limited" — will cause the Penny Drop verification to fail. Copy the exact name as registered at your bank, and enter it identically in the portal.

3. Digital Documents Required

Upload clear scans or high-resolution photographs in PDF, JPEG, or PNG format. Maximum file size: 5 MB per file.

What Is an OVD?

An Officially Valid Document (OVD) is any government-issued document that serves as proof of both identity and address. JPSL accepts:

  1. Aadhaar Card (most preferred — enables instant digital verification)
  2. Passport
  3. Driving License

Utility bills, employee ID cards, and bank passbooks are not accepted as OVDs.

4. Document Quality Checklist

Poor-quality scans are the most common reason OCR fails and documents get rejected during review. Before uploading, confirm:

  • Photographed in natural light — flash turned off to avoid glare
  • All four corners and edges are within the frame — no cropping
  • Text is sharp and legible — not blurry or out of focus
  • No shadow obscuring text or stamps
  • File size is under 5 MB
  • File format is PDF, JPEG, or PNG

💡 Tip: Why Document Quality Matters JPSL uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to automatically read your documents and fill your application form. A clear image means fewer manual corrections and a faster review. A low-quality image means OCR failures, manual field entry, and potential rejection during underwriting.

5. Website Requirements

Your website must be live and functional before your application can be approved. The JPSL compliance team visits your URL during review. Ensure the following pages are clearly accessible:

  • Terms & Conditions
  • Privacy Policy
  • Refund / Cancellation Policy
  • Contact Us / Customer Support details

⚠️ Website Under Development? You can begin and submit your application with a website that is under construction. However, JPSL will place your application on hold until your site is live and contains all required policy pages. Factor this into your go-live timeline.
